Callout for new AEpiA Committee members

Calling all epigenetics enthusiasts!

The AEpiA Committee is seeking new members to help support and energise the Australasian epigenetics research community.

Our Committee includes representatives from across Australia and New Zealand; it meets every two months and oversees all AEpiA initiatives. Currently, these include our online seminar series, national scientific meetings, social/networking events and the AEpiA website, but we’re always open to new ideas!.

Open positions on AEpiA Committee

Region Representatives: New Zealand, Tasmania and ACT

  • Three positions available: open to researchers based in New Zealand, Tasmania and the ACT

  • Suggested term: 3 years

  • Requirements: must be an active researcher with an interest in epigenetics and more than 5 years post-PhD experience

ECR Representatives

  • Multiple positions available: open to researchers based anywhere in Australia and New Zealand

  • Suggested term: 2 years

  • Requirements: must be an active researcher with an interest in epigenetics and less than 5 years post-PhD experience (includes current research students)

What’s involved?

All Committee members are expected to:

  • Attend online bi-monthly AEpiA Committee meetings and to review the meeting minutes (< 1 hour/month).

  • Represent the interests of epigenetics researchers in their region.

  • Host online seminars on a rotating basis.

  • Promote AEpiA activities (seminars, conferences etc) among their local research networks.

Committee members are also asked to fill specific roles on a rotating basis (e.g. Seminar Convener, Social Media Officer). These positions will be discussed among the Committee on an annual basis.

The current AEpiA Committee will meet to discuss all EOIs in November, with new appointees expected to join the Committee from January 2022. Specific duties (e.g. treasurer, secretary) will be assigned at a later meeting of the new Committee.
